Another standout performance for me at Reeperbahn was the Wednesday night set from Berlin-based Kalipo. He unleashed his special brand of melodic tech-house that was a welcome treat after a full day of pop, punk and post-rock bands at the showcase festival in Hamburg last week. He weaved a 90 minute set into a masterpiece with this relentless original mix at the heart of it.
Munich duo COEO has burst on the scene with their groove-filled mixes and original tracks steeped in funk. Their classic sound has caught the attention of many fans across the world and they look set for big things, spreading their special brand of House to the masses.
German producer Mazde weaves Electronic magic with this slow burning track. Driven by a simple piano melody and looped vocal samples, it builds into an epic journey worthy of the wind with a controlled explosion of synths and bass.
Roosevelt first caught my attention with his track “Montreal” 2 years ago, and he’s fine-tuned his upbeat, Electronic dance sound even more with “Colours”. The Cologne-based artist is a triple threat (music, vocals and production) and his tunes are catchy yet moving at the same time. Catch his debut LP out in August. David August returns with a typically epic sounding track. The Berliner is excellent at raveling a myriad of different sounds, instruments and melodies into his work and J.B.Y is yet another example of why he such an exciting producer and live act. Looking forward to catching his show in June at Koko.
German 21-year old producer Mazde draws you in with the first few seconds of this track. The distorted vocal sample is built upon with drums that have just the perfect knick-knack feel to them; the song then explodes into all manners of synths, stabs and pads. Superb Future work!
