At my office, it’s a bit of a Friday tradition to break out this mix to signal its time to start drinking for the weekend. Hard to believe GTA Vice City is 15 years old (the video game was release in 2002) and this mix is not only hilarious but filled with quality grooves. Happy Friday peeps! Shootout to the TicketSwap office crew for keeping me sane
Alan Braxe reworks Gigamesh and brings the funk back to 2000. The legendary french producer returns to the electronic music scene that he helped pioneer with a slow roasted banger!
Loving this funky vibe on this Stereogamus remix of RUFUS’s gospel-like “Be With You.” Aussies remixing aussies.
I swear to god this is the song that plays in your head when you wake up on a Sunday without being hungover. French producer Lanea brings the fresh string-filled vibes to soothe your head on this summer morning.
Over the weekend, veteran Dutch duo Kraak & Smaak dropped their 6th album, Juicy Fruit, and I have to say its one of the most complete and enjoyable Electronic releases this year. In particular, I’m loving this track which features Amsterdam based US vocalist Meeka Kates and superbly chilled, mid tempo beats from the Dutch duo. For a extra dose of funky, check out their collaboration with Mayer Hawthorne below
Berlin-based IAMNOBODI is one of the most prolific and consistent producers of recent times. This edit pays homage to Patrice Rushen, who’s track was famously sampled for Men In Black theme song, reviving the funky bass and infectious vocals that made it a classic.
Lisbon’s Moullinex teams up with Lorenz Rhode for an ultra groovy cover of Stevie Wonder. From the crazy talkbox vocals from Rhode to the bouncy bass from Moullinex, this is a great tribute to the Wonderman.
