Based on Max Cooper’s live visuals during his Emergence tour, I’ve come to expect nothing less than top-drawer videos from the UK producer. Animator Sabine Volkert supplies a music video inspired by the biological and molecular themes that Cooper seems to implant into all of his work.
This beautifully shot music video for CRi’s “Rush” uses the town of Fremont, Quebec as a backdrop, illustrating its ghostlike industrial winterland. The video is almost documentary like in its introduction of Fremont but goes on to showcase the true beauty of the Quebec countryside as Cri’s sweeping futuristic bass music plays.
Anna Meredith is a London-based composer that creates music ranging from maximalist contemporary pieces to pleasantly quantit electro-pop folk music like with “Dowager”. In a lot of ways, the song reminds me of my longtime pop/folk favorites Tunng. The music video is wonderfully crafted by Director and Animator Ewan Jones Morris.
Cassius teams up with Cat Power and Mr Happy himself, Pharell Williams, for a dizzying upbeat pop track. They’ve enlisted the amazing people over at DIVISION to make the visuals, with Director Alex Courtes taking charge. The result is endless vertical and horizontel split screens with double meanings and commentary galore.
Video maestros The Offstream have mixed the amazing hand drawn visuals of artist Martino Prendini with Daphni’s thunderous track “Yes I Know” to great effect.
Paint on pictures. Director Derek Black takes a brilliant idea for music video, executes it beautifully and makes it look so simple. Perfect match for Sharks’ Teeth’s unique sound. Read more →
French producer Douchka has pretty undefinable sound and his music video for ‘Together’ is similarly hard to pin down. Vivid colours, tangled shapes, and just the right level of enough intrigue to keep you watching.
